An ecologically sustainable logistics deposit fitted with advanced Amazon Robotics technology, an NFPA-regulation sprinkler system and UNI hydrant network, a LED lighting system, BMS, heat-pump air-conditioning system and 78 charging points for electric vehicles.
The new centre is a sustainable structure that integrates energy saving systems to reduce the environmental footprint. The energy produced by the circa-1-MW photovoltaic panels fitted on the warehouse roof provide a significant portion of the energy for the distribution centre. Furthermore, to favour employee well-being, incentives are provided for the use of bicycles, with the creation of new cycle paths that also benefit the wider community. Particular focus has been also placed on external areas, which were planned and constructed to perfectly integrate into the existing landscape through the requalification of the adjacent rural area and woods, through the planting of approximately 1,500 trees and shrubs of varying type and the focusing of particular attention on the protection of important native species.
Planning was carried out with BIM technology, and the building has been constructed with a focus on sustainability principles, obtaining BREEAM certification at the EXCELLENT level.
